Kelham Island MuseumClient - PLB Ltd Project - Hawley Collection Budget - £60,000 RS Displays have recently completed the refurbishment of the Hawley Collection at Kelham Island Museum (Sheffiled). The project has since been showcased in a seminar at the Museum & Heritage Show in London - The seminar focused on the short timescale & tight budget we had to work with, highlighting that our creative and inspiration skills were essential tools in creating a sustainable and flexible exhibition. The Prestigious Hawley Collection is a unique and comprehensive record of tool making, cutlery manufacture and silversmithing. It is the product of over 50 years of collecting by Ken Hawley, a former tool retailer in Sheffield and champion of Sheffield's industrial heritage. The Ken Hawley Collection Trust was formed in 1994 to safeguard the collection and Ken continues collecting and working with the collection - it is his life and his continuing passion. This internationally important collection of over 100,000 objects includes edge tools, measuring tools, tools used for cutlery manufacture and silversmithing, plus related catalogues, photos, films and oral histories. It is gathered mostly from Sheffield and Yorkshire but also from Britain and the rest of the world. ![]()
